My Wedding - the Paper Flower Project
Although I should be starting the preparation works after I arrived here in late April, I felt like there's a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle in my head with no mapping and only 5 pieces were in my hands... But fortunately I had my dress and ring done in Taiwan, otherwise I would probably be getting a panic attack. Also it was indeed a wise decision to hire a wedding coordinator because we are not "super organized" to be honest... After the first meeting with our coordinator, I was less clueless and had a list to start with. Also she suggested that I should use my art works for the decoration. But the actual implementation was still vague, so I began to collect references on Pinterest, and I got almost all inspirations from there! Super easy to use and highly recommended!
Since our ceremony was held in a beautiful church, my main focus about decoration was the reception room. After seeing this breath-taking photo of paper flower wall on Pinterest, I was sold immediately!

Soon I got started, as a beginner, I looked up Youtube for all kinds of tutorials to learn how to make giant paper flowers! The materials are really simple: paper(did some research for the right weight of paper to use for different sizes), scissors(make sure it's sharp), hot glue gun(low temp is fine), ruler, pencil, any plates or cups available(for drawing circles). While drawing the petal patterns, I remembered the clothes pattern making class I took long long time ago. Thanks to our Airbnb renter during that time for his tolerance towards my work allover the place. He even bought a plastic sheet to cover the table(probably he's afraid that I might damage it, XD).
Below are the tutorial links that I found on YouTube! It's so much fun seeing plain papers became beautiful flowers in different shapes and sizes. And actually after learning 3 or 4 different ones, you'll get the idea and will be able to create your own flowers. Also you'll get faster too! I remember it took me 2 hours to make the first one so I was a little worried about unable to make enough flowers for my wedding... But fortunately I speeded up after I came up with some sort of work flow. Also with the help from my sweet friends and together we made 70+ paper flowers in 3 weeks!
